Read what Samuel Shiffman, Digital Media Specialist, Teaching, Learning & Technology Center at Seton Hall University, has to say about his experience in streaming, pedagogy, and with sofTV.net tools:

"Since we are a university our mission is strikingly clear. The two questions we ask ourselves in regards to any new technology is: "How does this technology fit into pedagogy?" and "Does this serve the greater good of the university".

In regards to the first question As both an educator and a technologist my feelings towards streaming video is such that without context it is merely a pale imitation of watching a bad VHS tape on an even worse television. This is why our first order of business when we began incorporating streaming into the teaching environment was to make it relevant to supporting the educational mission. In this regard we developed our tool called SyncStream. This allowed us to sync a real video file with a powerpoint slide. Thus, instead of merely having another boring talking head video, we were able to include all the ancillary material that one would experience if they were physically in a classroom.

Once we started using SyncStream on a more active basis it became apparent that we did not have the resources to nurture the product to the point where it could become our be all tool to us. Since we had spent so much time developing our own tools we now knew exactly what we needed from our vendors.

When we came across the sofTV.net tools we were thrilled that we finally found products that we would create ourselves if we had the resources (what better compliment can you pay to a product?) What finally cemented our decision to throw our hat in with this particular vendor was two things. The first is the most important, excellent customer service . . . They were always available for tech support questions and we had access to folks at the highest level of the company. But the most important issue for us was that the product worked as promised.

In a nutshell, What we, the customer, look for is the following:

1) Good Tech Support
2) The Product Works

What are people saying?

"One of the issues that was of paramount importance to us in choosing a streaming media solution was the quality of the software support team. sofTV.net is an organization that excels in this area; they have enabled us to complete a series of projects well before their deadline and in a fashion that exceeds expectations."
